Abuja, Nigeriaβ€”October 24, 2026β€”Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, has dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign flag-off held in Kaduna as a manufactured show of support rather than genuine nationwide backing for President Bola Tinubu.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Sowore argued that the APC and the Tinubu administration want Nigerians to mistake a β€œpacked” stadium for broad popular endorsement.

Stadium Capacity and Transported Supporters

β€œThe @OfficialAPCNg and the Tinubu regime want Nigerians to mistake a β€˜packed’ stadium for nationwide support,” Sowore wrote. β€œRanchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna holds just 5,000 people, even at that, supporters were transported in from across Nigeria to fill it.”

He concluded firmly: β€œIn 2027, @officialABAT will still lose the election.”

The comment came hours after the APC presidential campaign flag-off event in Kaduna, where President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other party leaders addressed supporters and declared readiness for the 2027 polls.

Political Context

Sowore, a longtime critic of the current administration and advocate of the #RevolutionNow movement has consistently maintained that the Tinubu government lacks genuine popular support.

His latest remarks fit into a pattern of challenging the ruling party’s claims of momentum ahead of the next general election.

The AAC candidate has previously rejected joining opposition coalitions, describing them as temporary arrangements that would collapse after 2027, and has positioned himself as a radical alternative focused on systemic change.

Reactions to Sowore’s post were mixed, with some supporters echoing his scepticism about the size and composition of the Kaduna crowd, while APC loyalists dismissed the claim as the usual opposition rhetoric.

As the 2027 election cycle intensifies, both the ruling party and opposition figures continue to trade claims over popularity, organizational strength, and the true mood of the Nigerian electorate.

This report is based on a public statement by Omoyele Sowore on X on October 24, 2026.
