Abuja, Nigeriaβ€”October 24, 2026β€”African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has launched a scathing attack on Peter Obi and other opposition politicians, accusing them of renting political parties every election cycle not to liberate Nigerians but to help the ruling establishment divert public anger.

In a strongly worded post on X on Saturday, Sowore described the New Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership as β€œopportunists and packaged political frauds who made ₦9 billion from selling nomination forms while running a political party from their living rooms.”

Criticism of Unprincipled Politics

Sowore specifically targeted Peter Obi, stating, β€œThis is the problem with unprincipled politicians like @PeterObi who rent political parties every election season, not to liberate Nigerians, but to help the criminals in the ruling establishment led by @officialABAT divert public anger and evade the revolutionary consequences of their actions.”

He warned that their supporters would attempt to gaslight critics and urged Nigerians not to fall for such tactics.

According to Sowore, figures such as Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, along with other political allies, have been used to promote narratives that distract from real socio-political issues.

Managing Opposition, Not Confronting the System

Sowore argued that these politicians do not genuinely oppose President Bola Tinubu. β€œThey don’t oppose Tinubu; they simply don’t want anyone to oppose him strongly enough to bring his disastrous reign to an end. Their politics is about managing opposition, not confronting the system,” he said.

He referenced a remark attributed to Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s former vice-presidential running mate, in which Tinubu was allegedly described as their β€œfavorite uncle.”

Sowore concluded by asserting that these political actors continue to delay the liberation of Nigerians and called for vigilance against what he termed their diversionary tactics under the hashtag #RevolutionNow.

The post has generated significant engagement and debate online, reflecting ongoing tensions within Nigeria’s opposition space ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This report is based on a statement published by Omoyele Sowore on his official X account on October 24, 2026.
