APC Chairman Yilwatda Hails Rainbow Coalition in Presidential Campaign Council
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has described the party’s Presidential Campaign Council as a “rainbow coalition” that reflects a shared commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking at the inauguration of the council in Abuja on Wednesday, Yilwatda said the composition of the campaign team, which includes figures from other political parties, demonstrated a collective determination to shape the outcome of the January 2027 presidential election.
“The APC presidential campaign council comprising of other political parties is a reflection of our shared commitment to determine what will happen in January 2027,” he stated.
Yilwatda also pointed to the administration’s record on infrastructure, particularly road projects. He asked what previous leaders had been doing when so many roads were left uncompleted, noting that the current government had taken on the burden of finishing and commissioning them under President Tinubu.
The revised campaign council list has drawn attention for its inclusion of prominent politicians from outside the APC. Among them are Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, named campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
These appointments form part of what party leaders have framed as a broad-based strategy to mobilize support beyond traditional party lines.
President Tinubu chairs the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen. Senator Abdulaziz Yari is the Director-General, while several governors, National Assembly leaders, and party officials hold key roles.
Yilwatda urged the council to provide clear direction and coordination, stressing that governors, legislators, party leaders, and campaign officials must work together so the party’s message reaches every community.
He maintained that the administration’s reform agenda and development priorities deserve continued support and the opportunity to deliver further results.
The inauguration comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections. By bringing in voices from other parties while insisting the ruling party will only field and support its own candidates across the board, Yilwatda sought to present the campaign structure as both inclusive and firmly rooted in the APC’s organizational strength.
