Police Arrest Dozens, Rescue Kidnap Victims Across Multiple States in Fresh Operations
Abuja, September 6, 2026 — The Nigeria Police Force has released a detailed state-by-state summary of operational successes recorded around September 5, 2026, highlighting a string of arrests, rescues of kidnapped victims, and recovery of firearms and illicit drugs across several states.
In a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu and posted on the official @PoliceNG account, the force outlined intelligence-driven actions that led to the arrest of suspects linked to murder, armed robbery, attempted murder, kidnapping, cultism, and child sexual abuse, while also recovering weapons and other exhibits.
Key Highlights from the Operations
In Anambra State, police operatives acting on intelligence following the murder of Isaac Nwosu and three others in Awka arrested five suspects.
One of them, Chukwuma Oputa, reportedly confessed to involvement in an armed robbery at a Bet9ja shop during which a victim was shot dead, as well as the subsequent killing of Nwosu. A pump-action rifle was recovered from the principal suspect.
Delta State saw two major interventions. Operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout in Abraka and arrested eight suspects linked to the attempted murder of Ikolomi Ewoma, recovering three locally made pistols and quantities of Tramadol and other illicit drugs.
Separately, detectives arrested a 31-year-old NYSC member, Godstime Onyenechara, over the alleged sexual abuse of a six-year-old girl in Ekpan. Medical examination confirmed penetration, and the suspect remains in custody.
In Katsina State, tactical teams engaged armed bandits who invaded Kasuwar Mata Junction in Funtua Local Government Area and abducted residents.
The bandits were forced to retreat, and subsequent clearance operations led to the successful rescue of five abducted victims unharmed.
Rivers State operatives rescued a female victim who had been abducted from her shop along Alode Farm Road in Eleme. After a gun duel, the kidnappers fled, abandoning the woman unharmed.
Two locally made pistols and one round of live ammunition were recovered from their abandoned tricycle.
Nasarawa State recorded multiple successes. Eleven suspects, including two minors, were arrested after armed robbers invaded Glory Guest House in Masaka.
Exhibits recovered included a locally made revolver, cutlasses, knives, SIM cards, and counterfeit currencies. In a separate operation involving local hunters and community youths, police rescued Favour Innocent from Nunku Forest in Akwanga Local Government Area; she was treated and reunited with her family.
Other notable actions included the arrest of a culpable homicide suspect and recovery of a pump-action gun in
Borno State after the fatal shooting of Ali Gambo; the arrest of two suspected cultists and recovery of a loaded revolver in Bayelsa State; and the raid of criminal hideouts in **Akwa Ibom State** that yielded four drug suspects and quantities of suspected Indian hemp.
In Ogun State, police arrested a 20-year-old man for the alleged indecent assault of a seven-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man for the attempted rape and indecent assault of a female doctor at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

All cases remain under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments. The latest summary forms part of the force’s regular updates on daily and weekly operational achievements, which in recent months have included large-scale rescues of kidnap victims and significant recoveries of arms nationwide.
