“Nigeria Will Collapse if We Stand on Tinubu’s Failed Mandate” – ADC

Lagos, Nigeria – July 27, 2026— The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stark warning that Nigeria risks collapse if the country continues to stand on what it describes as President Bola Tinubu’s “failed mandate.”

Speaking in a recent interview on Symfoni TV’s Naija Unfiltered, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi declared that the president has failed across key areas of governance.

“If Nigeria continues to stand on President Tinubu’s failed mandate, this country may just collapse,” he said.

Abdullahi painted a grim picture of daily life for ordinary Nigerians.

“People are suffering. But what is clear is that this government doesn’t care. They don’t care.

Businesses are collapsing every day. I’ve met people who cry and say, ‘Look, we did not do anything wrong, but our businesses have collapsed.’”

Economy, Security and Jobs Under Fire

The ADC spokesman argued that the administration has failed on three critical fronts: the economy, security, and job creation for young people.

He described the removal of fuel subsidies as an impulsive decision whose “net consequence” has landed the country in a “catastrophic situation.”

Beyond the rising cost of living, Abdullahi pointed to worsening insecurity.

He referenced the recent abduction and release of schoolchildren in Oyo State, noting that Governor Seyi Makinde had raised questions about possible political undertones and called for external investigators. “We have to take it seriously,” he said.

“I’ve Tried to Be Charitable”

Abdullahi said he had sought positive assessments even from ardent government supporters. The only consistent response, he claimed, was praise for the courage shown in removing fuel subsidies—a move he insisted has produced more hardship than relief.

“In what way will I say this government has improved the livelihood of the people? I’ve tried to be charitable,” he stated.

The comments come amid ongoing public debate over the impact of economic reforms, persistent insecurity in parts of the country, and high youth unemployment.

Opposition parties, including the ADC, have repeatedly argued that the hardships outweigh any claimed gains.

Abdullahi’s remarks form part of a broader opposition critique of the Tinubu administration three years into its tenure.

The ADC has previously accused the government of undermining democratic checks and balances and failing to deliver measurable improvements in citizens’ welfare.

As Nigeria heads toward the 2027 general elections, such statements are expected to intensify political discourse. Supporters of the president maintain that difficult reforms were necessary to stabilize public finances and that progress is being made in several areas.

The government has yet to issue a formal response to Abdullahi’s latest comments.
