Atiku Launches ‘Ask AA’ Portal for Direct Questions from Nigerians
Abuja, Nigeria – 15 October 2026 – Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday launched a new digital platform that allows Nigerians to question him directly on his political record, policy proposals, and plans for the country, marking a notable shift toward technology-driven citizen engagement in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, styled “Ask AA,” went live at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atiku himself announced the live launch on his X account with the simple message “#AskAA Live Launch” and a link to the broadcast, inviting citizens to join the conversation in real time.
According to a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, the free-access portal is designed to give Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora an unmediated channel to submit questions, raise local concerns, and demand clarity on Atiku’s agenda.
Citizens can ask about the economy, national security, technology, job creation, the high cost of living, and any other issues they consider important.
Atiku is expected to respond personally to many of the questions, while members of his media team will also assist in providing answers.
In unveiling the platform, Atiku described leadership as “a two-way conversation” and said governance had for too long felt distant and locked behind bureaucratic walls.
“That is why I am launching Ask AA—a direct citizen-engagement platform built for transparency, accountability, and dialogue. No filters, no intermediaries,” he said.
“Whether you want to question my economic record, discuss my policy plans for technology, security and job creation, or share your own recommendations for national progress, nothing is off the table. I want to hear your questions, your policy critiques and your best ideas.”
Beyond written responses on the portal, Atiku disclosed that he would personally call selected participants who leave their contact details.
The calls, he said, would allow him to hear first-hand about the daily challenges ordinary Nigerians face.
Campaign officials present the platform as a practical tool to bridge the traditional gap between political candidates and the electorate.
By leveraging technology, they argue, Ask AA removes intermediaries and places the candidate in direct conversation with citizens who want answers.
The launch comes as political activities intensify ahead of the January 2027 presidential election. Atiku, the ADC’s standard-bearer, has positioned the initiative as part of a broader effort to make his campaign more accessible and accountable.
Political observers note that the move reflects a growing trend among candidates to use digital tools for real-time engagement, especially among younger and diaspora voters who are active online.
Whether the platform will generate sustained participation remains to be seen, but its early messaging has already sparked conversation across social media.
For now, Atiku’s message is clear: the floor is open. Nigerians who have questions about his past, present positions, or future plans have been invited to ask them directly—and he has promised to answer.
