Abuja, Nigeria—October 13, 2026—The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised and expanded list of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo as key state coordinators.

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to formally inaugurate the council on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Key Appointments in the Revised List

Under the new arrangement:

- **Nyesom Wike** (still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party) will coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT.

- Ademola Adeleke (elected on the Accord platform) is named coordinator for Osun State.

- Chukwuma Soludo (All Progressives Grand Alliance) will oversee Anambra State.

Other notable inclusions and adjustments include Adegboyega Oyetola as deputy national coordinator for stakeholders’ mobilization in the South-West. All 32 APC governors have been appointed campaign coordinators for their respective states.

The leadership structure has also been reshuffled. Former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari remains Director-General.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq now serve as deputy vice-chairmen.

Several other senior party leaders and serving governors hold deputy director-general and advisory positions.

Political Significance

The inclusion of figures from outside the APC underscores the party’s strategy of building a broad-based coalition. Wike has long publicly backed Tinubu’s re-election bid while remaining in the PDP and promoting a cross-party “Rainbow Coalition.”

Adeleke and Soludo’s appointments further signal ongoing political realignments ahead of the polls.

Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections officially opened on August 19 and will run until January 14, 2027, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable.

Major opposition contenders include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

The inauguration on Wednesday is expected to formally launch intensified mobilization efforts by the ruling party. Party leaders present the expanded council as a reflection of growing support for continuity under Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

As the 2027 race heats up, the composition of the campaign council will be closely watched for signs of how effectively the APC can translate elite alliances into grassroots votes across the country.
