Abuja, Nigeriaβ€”October 13, 2026β€”Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, on Monday briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the progress of ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s health sector.

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said the briefing forms part of the administration’s efforts to transform the health system in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Focus of the Reforms

According to the ministry, the discussions centred on the implementation of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII).

The initiative serves as the main framework for coordinated reforms designed to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve population health outcomes, expand access to quality and affordable care, and build a more resilient health system.

The ministry emphasized that the ultimate goal of these reforms remains clear: to save lives, reduce both physical and financial pain for citizens, and produce health for all Nigerians.

Presidential Commitment

The briefing, the ministry noted, underscores President Tinubu’s personal commitment to driving meaningful change in the health sector.

Officials described the engagement as a demonstration of continuous high-level oversight of the reform process.

The Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative has been the central vehicle for aligning government priorities, partner support and sector-wide efforts toward measurable improvements in health outcomes across the country.

As the reforms advance, the Federal Government says it remains focused on translating policy into tangible results that improve the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians seeking care.
