Tinubu Constitutes APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council with Yari as DG, Uzodimma as Secretary
Abuja, August 22, 2026 β President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday formally constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary.
According to a State House statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will act as Vice Chairmen.
Yari, a former Zamfara governor, takes charge as Director-General. Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governorsβ Forum, will serve as Secretary. APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman have been appointed Deputy and Assistant Secretaries respectively.
Key Leadership Structure
A body of advisers comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa will support the Chairman.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been named Deputy Directors-General for the South and North.
They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Barau Jibrin in the respective zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will handle mobilization as a Deputy Director-General, while the Presidentβs Chief of Staff will oversee administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, a key figure in the 2023 campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Broad Mobilisation and Sectoral Roles
The detailed membership list released in parts by Onanuga shows extensive sectoral and zonal appointments covering financial and tech services, extractive industry, education, manufacturing and MSMEs, support groups, faith-based mobilization (Christian and Muslim), protocol, labour union relations, stakeholdersβ mobilization, community support, digital operations, grassroots engagement, and welfare.
Notable names include ministers, serving and former governors, National Assembly members, traditional and religious leaders, and party stakeholders drawn from all six geopolitical zones.
State campaign coordinators will include APC governors in APC-controlled states and gubernatorial aspirants in non-APC states.
Presidentβs Charge to the Council
Tinubu charged all members to work tirelessly to deliver victory for the party in the January 2027 elections.
He encouraged directors of various units to reach out to other party members not formally listed so they can join the effort.

The constitution of the expansive council comes as the formal campaign period for the 2027 elections begins, with the APC seeking to retain power on the strength of Tinubuβs Renewed Hope Agenda.
