Tinubu Set to Crush Obi, Atiku in 2027 Poll

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa (also referred to as Olatunji or Maruf Tunji Alausa), has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is firmly on course to defeat major opposition figures, including former Anambra Governor Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Alausa said the administration has delivered on its promises to Nigerians through difficult but necessary economic and structural reforms that are already producing measurable results.

He argued that these gains, rather than political rhetoric, will form the strongest foundation for Tinubu’s re-election bid under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” Alausa stated in remarks released by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikharo Attah.

The minister pointed to improving macroeconomic indicators as evidence of progress.

Inflation is gradually easing, economic activities are expanding, and other key indices are showing steady improvement, according to assessments from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, Bloomberg, and Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

These independent reports, he said, confirm that the reforms are strengthening investor confidence and laying the groundwork for sustainable, inclusive growth.

Alausa highlighted the administration’s emphasis on fiscal discipline, structural reforms, and long-term economic stability.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Tinubu’s government has removed the petrol subsidy, unified foreign exchange windows, introduced tax and fiscal reforms, and pursued measures to boost domestic revenue and attract investment.

While international institutions have largely praised these steps for addressing longstanding distortions, the policies have also brought significant short-term hardship, including soaring inflation, higher food prices, and rising living costs for many Nigerians.

The government maintains that these pains are temporary and necessary to restore macroeconomic stability and place the economy on a sustainable path.

Social intervention programmes have been introduced to cushion the impact on vulnerable households and businesses.

Alausa expressed optimism that as more citizens begin to feel the positive effects of the reforms, Tinubu’s performance record will speak for itself at the ballot box*.*

“As Nigerians continue to experience the impact of the reforms, the administration’s record would speak for itself ahead of the next general election,” he said.

The comments come amid growing political jostling for the 2027 race. Peter Obi has secured the presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), while Atiku Abubakar continues to position himself as a key opposition contender.

Alausa’s remarks frame the contest as one that will ultimately be decided by delivery and results rather than opposition narratives.

Whether the improving indicators translate into widespread public approval remains to be seen.

For now, the Education Minister’s confident projection has injected fresh momentum into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) camp as the countdown to 2027 begins in earnest.
