Obidient Movement Slams Festus Keyamo Over “Poorly Edited” Propaganda Against Peter Obi

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Obidient Movement has fired back strongly at Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, accusing him of deploying poorly edited propaganda in a bid to tarnish the image of Peter Obi, the influential opposition leader and 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement issued by its Media and Communications Directorate on Saturday, the movement described Keyamo’s release of CCTV footage regarding a recent airport parking incident as misleading and politically motivated.

The controversy erupted after Obi’s vehicle was reportedly clamped at the Abuja airport, prompting the former Labour Party presidential candidate to cry foul over alleged persecution.

According to the Obidient Movement, the minister’s claim that Obi’s vehicle was left unattended for about 30 minutes in a restricted zone was contradicted by the very footage he released.

The group pointed out that the vehicle arrived around 8:28 p.m. and was clamped roughly six minutes later, accusing Keyamo of selective editing to mislead the public.

The movement further argued that the video failed to show Obi’s vehicle blocking the terminal entrance, noting that another car pulled up behind it without issue.

They maintained that enforcement officers appeared to single out Obi’s vehicle while ignoring others parked in the same area, reinforcing claims of selective targeting.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko and other Obidient leaders criticized Keyamo for devoting disproportionate attention to Peter Obi instead of tackling pressing challenges in Nigeria’s aviation sector, such as frequent flight delays, exorbitant airfares, and infrastructure deficits.

They sarcastically dubbed the Aviation Ministry the “Ministry of Peter Obi Affairs,” alleging the campaign stems from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s deep obsession with the opposition figure, who is widely seen as a credible alternative to the current administration.

The group insisted that no amount of propaganda, intimidation, or selective enforcement would distract Nigerians from core national issues, including insecurity, galloping inflation, hunger, and widespread economic hardship.

They reaffirmed their commitment to the “New Nigeria” struggle.

This latest clash comes against the backdrop of intense political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Peter Obi, who has transitioned to the NDC, continues to command significant grassroots support through the Obidient Movement—a decentralized but influential force that transcends traditional party lines.

Festus Keyamo, a vocal APC defender and senior minister, has been at the forefront of defending the Tinubu administration’s policies while engaging opposition figures.

The airport incident has now become another flashpoint in the ongoing war of narratives between the ruling party and a resurgent opposition.

Supporters of Obi view the episode as evidence of political victimization, while government officials frame it as routine enforcement of airport regulations.

The release of CCTV footage, intended to clarify matters, has instead fueled further accusations of manipulation and deepened partisan divides.
