UK Police Arrest 26-Year-Old in Shocking Murder of Former Minister Ann Widdecombe
LONDON — In a case that has sent shockwaves through British political circles, police in southwest England have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of murdering Ann Widdecombe, the former Conservative minister and prominent Reform UK figure, whose body was discovered with serious injuries at her rural Dartmoor home.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the arrest on Friday, July 10, 2026, just hours after launching a full murder investigation.
The suspect, described as a white British national, was detained at an address in Newton Abbot — less than 10 miles from Widdecombe’s home in Haytor Vale — and remains in custody.
