The Federal Government has outlined ambitious plans, including a 10-year roadmap for the steel and non-ferrous metals industry, targets to produce millions of tonnes annually, and strategic partnerships aimed at reviving key assets like Ajaokuta.

Initiatives such as MoUs with international investors and integration with defense production underscore a multifaceted approach to industrialization.

Dr. Achiv’s intervention comes at a pivotal moment. Experts agree that a vibrant steel sector could create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, reduce import dependency (Nigeria currently imports significant quantities of steel products), boost GDP, and support infrastructure projects across the country.
