Lagos Police Smash Criminal Hideouts: 150 Suspects Arrested in Major Raid

LAGOS, Nigeria — In a significant boost to public safety efforts, the Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of 150 suspects and the recovery of a massive cache of criminal exhibits during a coordinated early-morning raid on notorious black spots. The operation underscores the effectiveness of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE in denying criminals any safe haven across the state.

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a joint team of operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop in Igando, and other identified areas within the Area M, Idimu axis.

The swift action targeted hoodlums terrorizing residents in the vicinity.

Exhibits recovered during the operation include:

- 100 unregistered motorcycles

- 54 mobile phones

- Firearms: 1 double-barrel gun, 2 single-barrel guns, and 1 locally made double-barrel short gun

- 2 military camouflage uniforms

- Assorted charms

- 6 generators suspected to be stolen

- Various quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs

All suspects are currently in police custody, with investigations ongoing to establish their individual roles. Those found culpable will be prosecuted accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across Lagos.

He emphasized that no part of the state will be allowed to serve as a sanctuary for criminals.

CP Fatai urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that collaborative efforts between the police and the public remain vital for lasting peace and security.

The Command has made available dedicated hotlines for emergencies and information sharing.

This latest success in Operation KO S’AYE comes as part of a broader, aggressive clearance strategy by the Lagos State Police Command.

Recent similar operations have yielded rescues of kidnap victims, neutralization of threats, and disruption of criminal networks, contributing to a noticeable improvement in safety perceptions in several areas.
