Kano, Nigeria – July 4, 2026 — In a heartening display of civil-military partnership, the Nigerian Army’s 3 Brigade has reached out to the next generation, inspiring hundreds of students and teachers at Tony Cheta International Group of Schools in Kano through a vibrant public speaking engagement.

The event forms part of the broader 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), themed “Protecting the Nation and Serving the People: A Way Forward for the Nigerian Army.”

Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, Commander of 3 Brigade, delivered a passionate address urging young Nigerians to prioritize discipline, hard work, and academic excellence as cornerstones of personal growth and national development.

He framed the initiative as a direct reflection of the Army’s commitment to mentorship, patriotism, and stronger bonds between the military and civilian communities.

The Brigade Assistant Chief of Staff (Administration), Lieutenant Colonel Gbenga Adekunle, and Brigade Education Officer, Major Hassan Abdullahi, reinforced these messages in separate presentations.

They emphasized core values — honesty, integrity, and responsible citizenship — while warning students against social vices such as drug abuse, internet fraud (often called “yahoo yahoo”), cultism, and other criminal behaviors that derail futures and harm society.

Officers highlighted diverse career pathways within the Nigerian Army, spanning engineering, medical services, logistics, intelligence, communications, education, and more.

They encouraged academically driven students to consider military service as a noble and rewarding profession dedicated to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty while serving its people.

Mr. Tony Emecheta, Director of Tony Cheta International Group of Schools, praised the Army’s proactive engagement.

He described the program as a powerful demonstration of the military’s investment in youth development and nation-building, noting how it strengthens trust and collaboration between soldiers and civilians.
